Cuttwood is one of the top name brands for vape juice. Cuttwood Juices have not been without their controversy on their rise to success though. Their flavors being Unicorns Milk, Boss Reserve, Monster Melons, and Sugar Bear. People from all around love the flavors that Cuttwood makes. One of the favorites being the unicorn’s milk, but recently Cuttwood was being accused of using titanium dioxide in their juice giving it a creamy pink color to make it more appealing to the costumers. For those who don’t know what titanium dioxide is it’s used to give off a white pigment used in products such as paints, papers, plastics, foods and toothpastes. It is also found in your skin care products and cosmetics, it’s used a sunblock which allows you to be protected from ultraviolet rays. Titanium dioxide is indeed poisonous to your repertory system making it a big deal being in vape juice.
As stated by the CCOHS(Canadian Centre for Occupational Health & Safety)
With such widespread use of titanium dioxide, it is important to understand that the IARC conclusions are based on very specific evidence. This evidence showed that high concentrations of pigment-grade (powdered) and ultrafine titanium dioxide dust caused respiratory tract cancer in rats exposed by inhalation and intratracheal instillation*. The series of biological events or steps that produce the rat lung cancers (e.g. particle deposition, impaired lung clearance, cell injury, fibrosis, mutations and ultimately cancer) have also been seen in people working in dusty environments. Therefore, the observations of cancer in animals were considered, by IARC, as relevant to people doing jobs with exposures to titanium dioxide dust. For example, titanium dioxide production workers may be exposed to high dust concentrations during packing, milling, site cleaning and maintenance, if there are insufficient dust control measures in place. However, it should be noted that the human studies conducted so far do not suggest an association between occupational exposure to titanium dioxide and an increased risk for cancer.
So basically this test stated that if you drown a rat in metal flakes they get cancer, not exactly what Cuttwood was doing they put a food coloring in their juice which had trace amounts of the titanium dioxide as part of the Food coloring companies product and not Cuttwood custom creation themselves. Once it was brought to their attention the practice was immediately stopped.
The co-owner of Vapor Bombz, quotes to have spoken to the creator of the juices about these accusations and stated, “The maker is good people, I’m sure his intentions were not for bodily harm. Vapor Bombz was one of the few that received the first batch and sold out quickly.. The juice was awesome. Jared has a lot of potential as a juice maker and I hope to see him succeed. Today after all the talk and rumors I personally contacted Jared of Cuttwood and asked him if it contained Titanium Dioxide. He stated it had white food coloring and he pulled it out for next batch. I asked him again does it contain Titanium Dioxide and he then responded with,” Yes it contains titanium Dioxide and stated it was safe for consumption”. At this point I told him he should do more research in regards to ‘inhalation’ not just ingestion.”
With that being said I’m not sure if this was intended but I do know that soon after they discontinued the use of titanium dioxide in their juices. Their juices no longer have an artificial color to them. Even though Cuttwood fixed their mistake the damage was already done. Given the fact that the government is trying to ban the use of vapes they are looking for all kinds of reasons to do so. This mistake made by Cuttwood is just more ammo.
Personally I really like Cuttwood’s e-juices. They are extremely flavor full with a good mix of ingredients. The sugar bear has a sweet cinnamon taste perfect if your craving something sweet but with a little bit of a kick. The unicorn’s milk is a strawberry with loads of cream. Monster melons is a collision of mangos, cantaloupe, and papaya giving a strong delicious fruity flavor. The Boss Reserve has honey graham cracker roasted nut clusters, a milky cream, and sliced bananas, all mouthwatering ingredients. So given the past the Sauce Boss is doing pretty good and people still like the juices.
