Every vape shop owner has heard the tale about the guy who tried vaping and it didn’t work to help him/her eliminate cigarettes. Guess what that was your fault as the shop owner. There cannot be that many ignorant customers unless there are that many more ignorant “professionals” spreading bad information. So in this article it is our hope to give you a base to start learning a new way to talk to ALL your customers so that information spreads that is helpful to your business and you find that customers are successful in quitting cigarettes.
Customer statement: “I need 34 mg of nicotine or I can’t get through the day.”
Store owner: “No sir I will not sell you 34mg of nicotine that is dangerous in its liquid form, you need to upgrade your equipment to manage your dose if you’re having withdrawals during the day.”
Simple and truthful. I get it the guy may not have $200 to plop down to buy a new IPV4 from pioneer4you. Yet he needs the proper equipment to be successful so he can manage his nicotine via wattage and not via quantity of fluid. You need to work with this customer more than others, he’s failing and he will talk everyone he meets out of NOT doing business with anyone let alone you. Store owners often do not have the foresight to think about the water cooler conversations that take place all day about their livelihoods especially one as controversial as vaping. You best sales pitch ever is your happy customers selling for you.
New workers to my stores all start to notice a trend with our customers. It’s the simple statement from so many customers. “I got told to come here and do not go anywhere else.” If you haven’t heard that from a customer then you’re not on your best game yet.
So let’s continue that conversation with our not enough nicotine in the world to satisfy me customer. First we need to address how bad their equipment is. Even CE5 tanks are a good for releasing the nicotine if you get variable voltage batteries for them. Now I just stated variable voltage and that should trigger in the store owners mind to avoid any device which has fixed voltage. This includes pens and mechanical mods. The user is just not able to have a reference of how much nicotine they are getting. As the battery begins to drain on these devices the wattage goes down and every puff is less nicotine by the end of the day. This is the very complaint they are having. Even mechanically adjustable batteries keep the voltage regulated as the battery drains. This is why they seem to work then fall off a cliff toward the end of the battery life.
The industry is making changes this summer of 2015 and you are seeing many 60 watt adjustable mods, metal reinforced tanks and Kanga has stepped up to standardize coils across the various size of their tanks. Allowing for a single tank to be useful to several different qualities of mods. So look for a tank that can scale with the user and get them started there. Throw out the thinking that you can sell the customer high profit up sales over and over. Lower their cost and make each and every one of them a success story and your market will expand exponentially.
My recommendation right now is for a 1-2 pack a day smoker, focus them on a 40watt or better adjustable box mod. Set them up with a tank that is easy to use and has the ability to run the coil ohm impedance required by that mod as well as scale to entertainment level of smoke if they choose to do later or at home when you’re not watching.
Keep in mind at all times if the customer gives up on quitting cigarettes they will spend more money somewhere else. Be helpful.
